A COLNE pub has been voted one of the best for food after it scooped a top score in a national inspection.

The Langroyd Hall Brewers Fayre pub restaurant in Langroyd Road won the top mark in a mystery auditor contest run by the pub-restaurant chain.

A secret auditor visited more than 248 pubs as part of the kitchens of excellence scheme and looked at the processes that happen behind the scenes, those not seen by the customer.

Everything was scrutinised, from delivery, storage, food handling and the presentation of the dish before it reaches the customer.

Mery Henderson, manager of Langroyd Hall, will receive a plaque at a presentation lunch.

Each kitchen team member will get an apron with a monogram on and enjoy a celebration party.

She said: "I'm thrilled that we've achieved such a high score. It's a credit to all our team members who've worked hard to maintain the highest standards throughout the kitchen.

"Our kitchen team members are often the unsung heroes of the restaurant and this award recognises their achievement."
