I TOTALLY agree with Tom Howorth and Mrs Jean Pablo (Letters, August 7) regarding their annoyance about someone complaining about our emergency ambulance services.
My work as a nurse involves dealing with people with both physical and emotional problems. Most patients relate to me by my forename, which enables me to gain a rapport and one-to-one respect.
I have been known to address my patients as 'love,' 'sunshine,' or even 'chuck' and I have not yet received any complaints.
In fact, most people prefer a more endearing form of communication, especially in the North West. If someone called me 'love,' I would be gratified.
But, just one question to the complaining person: How would you address a child of three or five? Madam or Sir?
