A TEENAGER has been accused of wounding after an alleged attack left her partner fighting for life.
Louise Berry, 18, was charged by police today after being arrested by detectives following the incident in Moorgate Street, Blackburn, which left Mandy Burton with serious head injuries.
She has been bailed to a relative's address in Hurstwood Avenue, Blackburn, until she appears before Blackburn magistrates on Friday.
Police were called to the couple's home in Mill Hill, at 9.10pm on Sunday and found Mandy, 30, had suffered severe head injuries.
She was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary, but her condition was so serious she was transferred to the critical care unit of Royal Preston Hospital, where her condition was described as "critical" today.
Her family were at her bedside.
Four men who were also questioned by police in connection with the incident have been released pending further inquiries, it was revealed today.
Police said Mandy, who is divorced with two children, had been at home in the hours leading up to the attack.
A police spokesman said: "We have had a tremendous response from the public thanks to the help we have had from the Lancashire Evening Telegraph and we have been able to piece together most of Mandy's movements on the evening she was allegedly assaulted.
"We will continue to follow up several leads we have been given."
Mandy's relatives yesterday agreed to release a photograph in the hope that it would lead to new information for the police.
The picture shows Mandy with her hair down, but the mother-of-two almost always ties her hair up at the back.
Police are still anxious to talk to anyone who saw Mandy on Sunday, anyone who may have seen or heard anything on Sunday evening or anyone who knows anything about Mandy's background.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the special incident room which has been set up at Blackburn police station on 01254 51212.
