ELDERLY people in Colne are again being warned against bogus callers after two men called at the house of a 76-year-old woman.
The pensioner had been at her home in St Stephen's Way at 10.40am on Monday when two white men in their mid 20s called, pretending to be builders.
DC Dean Holden said: "They went to the door of the old people's bungalow and tried to convince the elderly woman to come outside and look at work she needed doing to her house.
"We believe they did it with the intent of distracting her while one or both of them slipped in and burgled her.
"Luckily the lady refused, threatened to ring her daughter and they ran off."
The first man was described as 5ft 7ins, medium build, with short wavy dark hair and a round face, while his accomplice had short dark hair, slightly taller than the first, slim build and thin face. Both were wearing blue and black Lacoste tracksuits.
DC Holden said: "We want to warn other elderly people to be on their guard if they have unannounced people on their doorstep, suggesting they need work doing and to ask for identification if they are unsure who they are."
