A WOMAN who suffered brain damage in a road accident is to begin rehabilitation treatment this week.
Ann Marney, 44, of James Street, Great Harwood, was transferred to Blackburn Queen's Park Hospital over the weekend after being treated in the intensive care unit at the Royal Preston Hospital.
Mrs Marney's converted Reliant Robin trike smashed into an unlit bollard while she was overtaking another vehicle on Lee Lane, Great Harwood, last month.
The mother-of-four also suffered internal injuries in the accident.
Hours earlier ,council workmen had tried to repair the bollard but discovered a problem with the electrical feed.
Yesterday her brother, Mark Neal, of South Street, Accrington, said she was starting rehabilitation treatment to assess and monitor her progress.
"She's fully conscious but she still doesn't remember everything clearly," he said.
"She doesn't remember the accident but you can hold a conversation with her."
A spokesman for Queen's Park Hospital said Mrs Marney was comfortable and quite stable.
