POLICE are appealing for information after a pair of cast iron gates and two sandstone wall finials were stolen from a house in Whalley.
The gates, valued at £1,500, are 9ft wide and 5ft high, and feature vertical curved rails. The finials are 18 by 24in and are valued at £100 each.
They were stolen from the rear of a house in Station Road on the afternoon of August 5 and police said whoever took them must have worked in a team and used a van.
Sgt Chris Johnson, of Clitheroe Police, said: "These items are too heavy to have been taken by one person and, whoever took them, would have needed a transport.
"We believe people may have been in the area offering tarmacing services to residents and have reason to believe they were acting suspiciously.
"If anyone saw anything or were offered tarmacing we would like to hear from them. We would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered the cast iron gates or the finials."
If you can help, contact Clitheroe Police in confidence on 01200 443344.
