A BASKETBALL coach has landed his dream job organising basketball leagues and encouraging youngsters to take up the sport.
Steve Warburton, 46, of Bacup, worked as an advertising representative but on September 3 he will begin his new job as basketball co-ordinator with Loxton Leisure Services based at Oldham Basketball Centre. Steve's son Stephen, 13, picked basketball in preference to football and soon after they began following Manchester Giants. Steve later formed Rossendale Aliens which trains at Haslingden Sports Centre on a Saturday morning and Steve is head coach.
The team plays in the year nine and ten league in Stockport and once he begins his new job Steve is hoping to have the team play in the league in Oldham. He said: "I am over the moon, to me this is a dream job."
