A LANDLORD who became trapped when he went back into his pub as flames ripped through the building was discovered balancing on a window ledge by firefighters called to the scene earlier today.
Michael Waterhouse, 46, left the Globe pub, Blackburn Road, Accrington, at 3am today but became trapped inside when went back in to get something.
He was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and shock. A second man, John Creasley, 68, escaped unhurt.
Station Officer John Pinner said: "We believe the fire started from an electrical fault in the pool room.
"At first the landlord called the police because he thought he was being attacked by petrol bombs. He then smashed the emergency call point.
"We believe he went back inside for something and then became trapped on the first floor."
