Every day we have people expressing their concerns over the proposed changes to our new city centre. However, it appears the people who really matter are ignored and the changes will go ahead as planned because they've already been rubber stamped.

Exasperated? Certainly, because arriving at our excellent bus station, one can walk towards the centre -- practically undercover -- whether via the market or Guild Centre, with both the indoor market and soon-to-be defunct post office within easy reach!

Sadly, much of this will disappear without trace and without public say so. Many Prestonians feel those in the corridors of power are, as usual, keeping a low profile when it matters most.

Indeed, they think they know best, but they don't. Where is all the consultation promised?

Moreover, that ghastly 'folly' that replaced the Town Hall should stand as a reminder to all.

Would it be asking too much to leave the bus station alone, revamp the indoor market and still let the Tithebarn regeneration go ahead?

I may be a dreamer but the money saved would be better spent on a less elaborate town hall building on its old site, because to try and smarten up the municipal buildings with a new entrance costing half a million pounds will still not make it a town hall, whatever anybody says.

If a new town hall is out of the question, replace the present monstrosity with a garden in memory of its predecessor.
