A NEW electric warehouse truck at a Blackburn furniture factory has been road taxed and tested to drive 600 yards down a back street.
The handiest way for Remploy to deliver furniture frames from its manufacturing plant in Bank Top to its nearby assembly section is by using the truck.
But the journey of just 600 yards along a back street means the vehicle has to be fully taxed and tested.
Despatch team leader Rennie Margerison said he was only too happy to comply with Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency's demands and the yellow vehicle is now a familiar sight in the area.
"Thanks to the electric truck, we can now deliver frames to suit our assembly and shipping schedule," he said.
Remploy Blackburn is one of 80 national Remploy sites creating employment for the disabled through commercially-viable businesses.
The Blackburn site specialises in the production of furniture for schools and colleges across the UK.
