Kids in Preston are set for a hot summer holiday swapping TV and video games for real fire fighting action.
The kids will be put through their paces over the next few weeks as part of Preston Community Safety Partnership's Summer Splash initiative.
Summer Splash aims to keep kids off the streets during the summer holidays and will see them become fire fighters for the day, learning about fire safety and even how to deal with a bomb!
Councillor Veronica Afrin, Executive Member for Regeneration, Community and
Leisure welcomed the new scheme and said, "What an exciting way to spend the summer. These fire fighting courses are great and should keep the kids busy for hours. Summer Splash is a key part of our plans to improve facilities for young people and tackle crime. We're grateful to Lancashire Fire Services for their help with this scheme".
Steve Carter - Community Fire Safety Officer - Lancashire Fire and Rescue

"We're excited to be working with the Council on this new project, as its important to learn about fire safety, how to prevent accidents and know what to do in an emergency. The kids will also learn about how to work together and who knows, some of them may become the fire fighters of the future!"
