IN the CENTRAL LANCASHIRE LEAGUE Radcliffe slumped to defeat at Littleborough as they fell 14 runs short of the target set by their hosts.
In a match reduced to 35 overs, Littleborough batted first at Hare Hill and reached a total of 122, thanks to a fine innings of 55 from professional Lee Carseldine.
Radcliffe's openers, Bruce Cruse and Travis Birt, did reasonably well as the Racecourse men began their reply, hitting 49 and 28 respectively.
But the rest of the batting crumbled disappointingly in the face of some excellent bowling from Littleborough's Phil Deakin.
Deakin opens the batting for Littleborough, but hadn't set the world on fire, being dismissed for just 10.
It was a different story when he took up the ball though, claiming five wickets for 30 runs as he ripped the heart out of the Radcliffe batting.
Littleborough couldn't bowl Radcliffe all out, however, and had to settle for four points as the visitors innings ended on 109 for nine.
Radcliffe entertain Ashton at the Racecourse tomorrow and travel to Middleton on Sunday.
