AS WARD councillors we are very pleased Moor Platt has a stay of execution (for the time being).
The county now wishes to explore the possibility of using partners to develop the Moor Platt site, to keep provision for services for older people in the Lune Valley.
This could offer extra sheltered housing, day care, respite and some residential care etc.
Moor Platt received the second highest number of letters of support for keeping it open.
As Lancaster has the highest shortfall of places (36 places still needed after the closures) and we have the highest number of residents over 65 in the district, we feel strongly that a partner should be found to develop this beautiful rural location.
Could we ask your readers who feel the same to write to Coun Cllr Chris Cheetham at East Cliff Offices, Preston, PR1 8RD before August 23 supporting this, it really is worth it.
Cllrs Joyce Pritchard and Pat Quinton
