We are very concerned about the article, in the newspaper recently about a possible relocation of a pump from Leigh Fire Station to Wigan.
It could be life threatening for the Leigh area, especially at peak times, also very stressful for crews and victims alike.
Whoever came up with the idea should spend time with the Fire Service of Leigh and victims. They are putting economics before lives.
My husband and myself care for a son and daughter, with learning and physical disabilities. Our son has a vertical lift , from the back room to his bedroom, and should a fire start the lift would seal itself, and if he was upstairs someone would have to stay with him until help arrived. The timing would be vital, and from Wigan impossible. You are putting our son at a great risk, I would hold you responsible totally.
This matter should be reconsidered. Is this again Wigan taking top priority over everyone else? We are not Wigan, we are Leigh, we have our own town, and we need that pump. Are we less important? I do not think the people of Leigh would agree with you.
We are thinking of our son and daughter, of course, also many young children and our senior citizens that may need the Fire Service.
Look at what you propose again, I think your bean counter should sit down and look at their figures, at the end of the day, sorry would not be enough.
