STAN Ternent is down to just 16 fit players for tomorrow's trip to Molineux as he comes to terms with his shrinking squad.

Injuries have ruled out Tony Grant, Gordon Armstrong and Brad Maylett while both Glen Little and Paul Weller are fighting to be fit but Ternent has revealed that help could be on the way.

"There is nothing happening at the moment but I have got a couple of irons in the fire although there is nothing firm as yet," he explained.

"The Premiership season does not star till tomorrow and our League has only just started so we will see what happens."

His attempts to bring in Marlon Beresford and Marlon Broomes proved unsuccessful and having let six players leave in the summer in the wake of the collapse of ITV Digital, Ternent's resources are severely stretched.

But the option of bringing in new faces, possibly on loan, is still open to him and it may be a case of agreeing a deal with a top flight club that will see them share the cost of a player's wages.

Ternent already knows he will be without French defender Arthur Gnohere for three games after the trip to Wolves and if he were to suffer any other injuries his resources would become even more stretched.
