PENNINGTON FC had a rude awakening to life in the West Lancs League.
Three minutes into the club's debut after their summer transfer from the Manchester League manager Mike Hardman and his young side were up against it after visitors Mill Hill St Peters had stormed into a two goal lead.
The response was admirable with Carl Caffrey reducing the deficit but a second half of domination failed to bring the reward it deserved and the opening Division Two fixture finished in a 2-1 defeat.
This Saturday the first team is at home to Bac Preston.
