ATHERTON baths opened in September 1902 to the sounds of brass.
Plans are now underway to recreate the scene when the pool celebrates its 100th birthday next month.
It is hoped the Mayor, Cllr Geoff Roberts, will tour the building and a brass band will play to mark the baths making its centenary.
Last year a campaign was launched to save the pool after members feared it could be closed down before the big event.
But the future is now looking bright for the old pool, which has hardly changed, according to secretary Lev Baddley.
The celebrations come to a head on October 5 with a grand dinner and Lev wants to see as many club and committee members, past and present, as possible at the event in the Formby Hall.
