I AM writing to you about a matter of serious concern to the parents of children with special needs, who are currently attending any one of 32 special schools in Lancashire.
These schools are now threatened with closure and the total integration of these children into main stream education.
The standard of support and care in school -- an impact study is essential to assess the future provisions and level of care, that will be available for children with wide ranging special needs in future years to 2020.
The existing provision in main stream schools -- some single level, main stream schools could possibly accommodate children who use a wheelchair as a mobility aid with some alteration to the layout i.e. John Flower.
AFA holds the national audit handbook for schools.
Children with high dependency level -- Those children with an assessed high dependency level would need the construction of a special unit, together with the essential support team, equipment and aids, for personal care at the school, with one to one support in the classroom.
