BLACKBURN with Darwen Borough Council is being inspected from September 9.
The Audit Commission is visiting to judge the quality of the council's local services, its corporate and managerial effectiveness and its capacity to improve.
A judgement will then be given on the council from one the following: excellent, good, fair, weak or poor.
Council leader Bill Taylor said he was confident about the Comprehensive Performance Assessment following a successful 12 months.
"It's an opportunity for us to tested on our strengths and weaknesses," he added at the Council Forum in Blackburn Town Hall on Thursday night.
