A MEETING has been arranged to discuss the future development of the Lucas playing fields in Reedley, after a previous discussion was postponed.
The public meeting with local councillors and planning officers was due to take place on Monday, when a crowd of residents gathered at Belvedere Rugby Club, in Reedley.
But it was postponed by Councillor Frank Clifford and the Mayor of Pendle, Coun Pauline McCormick, after they claimed it was hi-jacked by Barnfield Construction and Morris Homes.
Representatives from the two companies, who had not been invited, were asked to leave and the meeting has been arranged for this Monday, at the rugby club, between 5pm and 7pm.
It will be an opportunity for residents to ask questions and voice their concerns about the council's draft development brief for the site.
The former sports area has become overgrown since it was closed down by TRW Automotive in 1994.
The land has since been bought by Barnfield Construction with the intention of turning it into a housing development, sports pitch, cricket ground and a pavilion to replace the one previously on the land.
If proposals are passed, the developers hope to start work on the site in January 2003.
