DRUGS with a street value of £5,000 were seized by police during a raid on an address in Nelson town centre.
More than 200 pieces of what police believe to be crack cocaine and a significant amount of what is thought to be cannabis, as well as cash and property, were discovered at a flat in The Galleries at 9.45am yesterday.
Shoppers who were standing nearby burst in to applause as 14 police officers forced their way in to the flat.
Two men, aged 23 and 24, were arrested during the raid, which was carried out in direct response to concerns from the local community and information supplied to Crimestoppers.
