STAN Ternent surveyed his injury hit squad today and admitted: "We have got loads of them."
But with the cash crisis that is gripping the club, it remains unclear whether the Clarets boss will have any hope of bringing in cover, even on a short term basis.
The fact that one of the walking wounded is goalkeeper Nik Michopoulos may leave the club no option but to bring in a new face as he remains the only senior stopper at Turf Moor.
Ternent was left frustrated by his failure to bring former favourite and last season's loan signing Marlon Beresford into the club over the summer. Now the injury to Michopoulos, who has had an uncertain start to the campaign, means he could again be looking for cover.
The players were in at Gawthorpe yesterday and it was almost a case of last man standing as they reported for duty after the 3-0 defeat at Molineux.
"Glen Little has got a strain on his thigh," explained the Clarets boss this morning but the influential winger is just one of the problems.
"Nik the Greek, Steve Davis, Gordon Armstrong, Tony Grant, Graham Branch, Brad Maylett and Arthur Gnohere have all got some sort of injury. In addition Paul Weller has had no sort of pre-season.
"Then we have got Dimitri Papadopoulos and Gareth Taylor who are away on international duty this week so it is not an ideal situation."
Ternent confessed to having no options ahead of Saturday's trip to Wolves as he named his only 16 fit players as the squad for the match at Molineux.
His hands will be further tied in the next couple of weeks by the suspensions that must be served by Gnohere and Paul Cook.
Despite the struggles at the start of the season Ternent is not ready to press the panic button and he is determined that everyone at Turf Moor will pull together.
"We will re-group, lick our wounds and then crack on," he vowed. "We will bounce back but when, I am not sure."
After the bruising start to the new campaign Ternent knows it is down to his players to get things right on the pitch and, after picking up as many red cards in the first two games as they did all last season, hopefully stay on it.
And he will be anxious to see strikers Papadopoulos and Taylor come back fit and well from international duty ahead of the clash with Sheffield United at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Ternent has vowed to turn to his young players if the senior pros do not perform. If the injuries fail to clear up, he may have to do so sooner than expected.
