GREAT Harwood take on Castleton Gabriels at home tonight in the hope of building on a solid start to their season in NWCL Division Two.

The hot and humid conditions played a part in a tight game at Chadderton where the defences of both sides were on top for most of the game.

Chances were few and far between but the majority did go the way of the visitors although they were unable to convert any of them.

Neil Kennedy had a chance with a header, Paul Walker had an opening and Chris Heslop had a half chance but the home defence held firm.

At the other end Harwood's defence was similarly solid and the home attack rarely got a sight of goal.

Ray Booth was impressive in midfield for Great Harwood but they lost a couple of players with injuries.

Matt Derbyshire pulled a muscle and was replaced by Simon Tattersall and Paul Sharples came on for Heslop who took a knock in the second half.

Manager John Hughes will check on his injured players ahead of tonight's game but he is ready to introduce a couple of new faces as he looks to record an opening win of the campaign.

The kick-off at the Showground is at 7.45.
