BACUP got off to a flying start to the new season with an away win in a NWCL Division One match that was tougher than the scoreline suggests.
The home side started the better and it was all square at the interval, thanks in part to a goal line clearance from Borough defender Paul Waine.
But from the moment Karl Stanley gave Bacup a 50th minute lead with an unstoppable shot the visitors were in control.
Two minutes later Paul Fildes unselfishly set-up his strike partner Micky Bartholomew who produced a smart chip to make it 2-0.
Sub Gavin Richards added a third 14 minutes from time after a great pass from Waine and Nicky Taylor completed the scoring with a good finish in the 85th minute.
Bacup boss Brent Peters was happy with the opening day and explained: "Sometimes no matter how much you work on approach play it doesn't always come off but when it does it is pleasing.
"Our first half performance was okay but after the break we were excellent. We played great team football and it was finishing at its best.
"We faced a fit and well organised side so getting three points and keeping a clean sheet was excellent. Now we must focus on our next game."
