THE headline, 'Car Boot man 'mad' at BNP rally switch,' on your report (LET, August 14), inferred that there might have been trouble due to the British National Party presence and said that the "car boot sale has been forced to move because of the proposed BNP event".
Note the word 'forced'. Why was it not pointed out that the BNP are a peaceful and democratic political party, registered with the Electoral Commission and that the event was not likely to develop 'trouble' through internal factors?
Furthermore, the Anti-Nazi League should be blamed for any trouble which would have been induced by their presence.
The ANL have no business coming to our private event and they should be held responsible for potential trouble.
Your headline should have read 'Car boot man 'mad' at Anti Nazi League', just as the previous Tuesday the headline 'Protests as BNP 'ousts' club rally' should have been '...as Anti Nazi League 'ousts' club'.
PHILL EDWARDS (Dr), National Press Officer, British National Party.
