TROUBLEMAKERS thinking of targeting the Colne Rhythm and Blues Festival this weekend have been warned to stay away by the police.
Officers have been working hard during the last few weeks with organisers of the annual bank holiday festival in a bid to cut crime.
They will also be focusing on under-age drinkers and urging local off-licences to sell alcohol in plastic bottles where possible.
Inspector Martin Holleran said: "We have been developing a plan that will focus on many of the crime problems that people face over the weekend.
"These include theft of mobile phones and other property taken from the person, crime and violence and disorder."
Sergeant Chris Saville and his team of officers and community beat managers have analysed previous crime trends and looked to put in place interventions that will focus resources on the hotspots.
He said: "With the help of the council, local shopkeepers and residents we are building a picture of who our targets are and where we put people to prevent these individuals from committing crime.
"I want people to come in to Colne over the weekend and enjoy this great festival without the fear of crime, worrying about their car or property."
Many schemes have been planned including projects to prevent under-age drinking and loutish behaviour, use of plastic glasses to prevent violence and dangerous litter, vulnerable vehicle scheme to protect cars parked in Colne and a beat the burglar campaign.
Insp Holleran said: "The local licensees including all the members of Colne Against Night-time Disorder (CAND) have responded well to the work we are doing."
