BLACKBURN defender Nissa Johansson could make his senior international debut in the next 48 hours after being called up by Sweden.

The stylish centre-back, who impressed for Rovers against Sunderland on Saturday, has been drafted into the Swedish squad to face Russia in a friendly in Moscow tomorrow night.

If he gets the chance to appear in the game it will be his first international cap at senior level and a fitting reward for a player who has made a big impression at Ewood since his £2.75 million move from Nuremberg last Autumn.

Several pundits tipped the 22 year-old, who has captained his nation's under-21 side, for inclusion in Sweden's World Cup 2002 line-up earlier this year.

But, although he narrowly missed out on that occasion, he has now been given the opportunity to show what he can do on the international stage by Swedish coaches Tommy Soderberg and Lars Lagerback.
