A MUSICAL festival featuring local artists will be staged in West Pennine Remembrance Park, Edgworth, on September 7 and 8.

Blackburn Salvation Army band will be one of the main attractions during the weekend of music.

The Remembrance Park offers individuals and families of all creeds and cultures the opportunity to reserve burial plots and have ashes scattered or interred in an area they have chosen to match their own individuality.

Owners and their families have unlimited access to the park during opening hours to enjoy the natural beauty of the area with its wide variety of flora and fauna.

The needs of those with limited mobility, visual impairment or other disability are catered for in the design of the walkways, pavilions and other facilities.

In designing the layout of the park, research was conducted into the history and character of trees, plants and herbs so that plots can be chosen on the site that best suits that individual.

Plots are limited in number and bought on a 100-year lease, at the end of which time, the park will be allowed to return to natural woodland.

Regular music events are held in the park, which opened last year.
