FREE sunglasses safety checks are on offer at the Charter Walk shopping centre, Burnley, on Friday.
Lancashire County Council's trading standards officers are offering holiday advice, a free sunglasses safety test and a consumer advice service from 10am to 3pm. Sunglasses should protect eyes from potentially damaging ultra violet rays as well as the glare of the sun and sunglasses which do not filter out UV light can actually cause more damage to the eye than no sunglasses at all.
County Councillor Tim Ormrod, cabinet member for public protection and rural affairs, said: "If you see sunglasses on sale that do not carry the CE marking, don't buy them, but inform trading standards on their low cost helpline 0845 600 1352."
