A TEENAGER raided his brother's girlfriend's home after she had offered him a roof over his head, a court was told.
Burnley Crown Court heard how Daniel Machin, 19, helped himself to her DVD player and discs after stealing the spare key because he needed cash to buy food.
Machin, who has been in custody for six months, was given a 12 month jail term and so won his freedom as he had served the sentence on remand.
Judge Raymond Bennett told him that what he had done had been mean and nasty and added the victim would probably not take him in again.
The defendant, of Church Meadows, Colne, had earlier admitted burglary. He was cleared of a totally unrelated allegation of indecent assault after the prosecution offered no evidence.
John 0'Shea, prosecuting, said in January Machin had twice turned up at the complainant's home and asked if he could stay the night as he had nowhere to sleep.
She agreed and on both occasions, the victim had left her home at the same time as Machin.
