FLOWERS cakes and Jubilee photographs were on show as part of the 59th annual Horticultural Society show, in Sabden.
Green-fingered villagers gathered at St Mary's Church Hall to see the best of the year's crops, as well as admire the winning entries of more than 30 cups and trophies. The pot luck potato-growing was won by Jean Haythornthwaite, who managed to grow 15lbs of potatoes.
Best flower was won by David Brindleton for his Dahlias. John Hartley and Alun Parfitt won the Silver Rose Bowl for the second consecutive year after accruing the most overall points. Alun, chairman of the society, said: "It has been another really good year in all the sections from handicrafts, flowers to baking. This is very much a village show and everyone gets involved.
