PADIHAM'S second NWCL Division Two win in the space of four days has given the Storks the best possible start to the new season and a platform manager Graham Howarth hopes his side can build on.

In an even first half against last season's champions, Padiham broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when a foul on Lee Chambers resulted in a spot kick being awarded.

Anthony McCluskey converted the penalty to give the Storks a 1-0 half time lead.

This remained the scoreline until 15 minutes from the end when a right wing cross from Ian Pilkington was headed down by Lee Chambers and Craig Wilkinson crashed in the loose ball to double Padiham's advantage.

Ian Pilkington hit the Stand crossbar in the 85th minute following good work by John Harrison and a minute later went one better after a defensive error let in the home side striker to make it 3-0.

Two minutes from time Pilkington went close again with an effort that was eventually cleared off the visitors' goal line.

Stand had a considerable amount of possession during the game but lacked the penetration needed to make any headway.

Martyn Stuart went closest to scoring for Stand in the 20th minute with a shot Kirk Marsden did well to save.
