IN REGARD to your letter 'Queen Not Game For a Laugh'.
I wonder if Mr Holt has any brains, saying ' the Queen should abdicate', because the cameras never captured her smiling at the time he wished to see her do so, maybe he would like the Queen to have a permanent smile on her face, which these days could possibly be done with plastic surgery.
Does Mr Holt continuously smile? I doubt it! If he had watched Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee, he would have seen plenty of smiling, waving and meeting people, not for a few minutes but hours on end, and days prior to the procession.
Although the death of her mother and sister had been so recent, she hid her grief and although her thoughts on her Golden Jubilee would have been very much in her mind of those she loved she professionally showed only happiness, for the billions of people who were in London and watched on TV.
For 50 years she has reigned and smiled for her subjects, she works hard and is loved and respected as our Queen.
David Beckham is paid millions for a few hours sport (which he enjoys doing) plus millions more for advertising products.
Publicity in the media is included, football fans admire him but his following is very small compared to the Queen.
He is not in her league, his only disappointment would possibly be the lack of publicity on him as the Commonwealth Games took precedence over his empire (football) which, I might add, millions of people are not interested in, prior to the misconception of many.
