A DRUG addict thief will now have to stay inside six days a week after magistrates gave him a curfew order.
The Burnley bench had been told how Leslie Lanceley, who could keep on the straight and narrow while living at home, helped himself to bacon and jeans to raise cash.
The defendant, of Merton Street, Nelson, was given a four month order, from Monday to Saturday, between 10am and 5pm. He admitted two counts of theft and failing to surrender.
John Rusius, defending, said if Lanceley was living at his father's address, he was fine, but when he was asked to leave, he went astray.
Lanceley had been in custody, his father accepted he should now be drug free and was willing to allow him to go back home as long as he obeyed the rules of the house.
The defendant's father blamed a particular person who lived in the area for leading his son astray but that person was now bailed out of the area and Mr Lanceley felt the risk was reduced.
Mr Rusius said Lanceley, who had spent 23 days in custody, had had time to reflect. He wanted to carry on the progress he had made and to go home where he had the support of his family.
