A DEDICATED Peter Kay fan has written his own fanzine in homage to the Bolton comedian.

Steven Wood was inspired to launch the fanzine called "Not Even Irish" after a phone call from Peter Kay last year.

The 28-year-old from Leigh was so disappointed when he could not get tickets for a Manchester gig last summer that he persuaded his friend to tape record the performance for him.

Steven, who works in marketing, enjoyed it so much he posted it on a website for fellow fans and was stunned after receiving an email from Peter Kay.

Despite not initially believing that the real Mc-Kay had contacted him, Steven was over the moon when the comedian called him at home and asked for a copy of the tape recording as he had lost some of his stand-up scripts!

Soccer fan Steven seized on the idea of a fanzine as he always buys Manchester United fanzines whenever he goes to see them all over Europe.

He produced 50 editions of the first fanzine in May and sold them mostly to friends and family.

However, the latest series of "Phoenix Nights" is proving so popular that Steven has already sold 100 copies of the second edition of the fanzine and more are waiting to be produced at the printers as he has received a further 200 orders.

Steven charges £1 for the fanzine to cover the printing costs and is not making money from the venture, but is just keen to spread the good word on Peter Kay.

He said: "I've loved everything he's done. I watched the first episode of the new series of "Phoenix Nights" five times!

"For the next edition I'm going to start a campaign to try and get "That Peter Kay Thing" out on video which was the first series because it's so funny and lots of people haven't seen it."
