MPS HAVE urged council bosses Hazel Harding and Chris Cheetham to prove they have listened to the second round of consultation responses -- and halt the closures.
Pendle MP Gordon Prentice said: "I was happy that Cravenside in Barnoldswick has been saved, but I despair that so many old people's homes will still be closed.
"The last set of proposals were very close to the original ones which makes you wonder why they went out to consultation in the first place.
"The process was flawed because there was no alternative.
"It was essentially a consultation on closures.
"I urge the county to look again."
And Burnley MP Peter Pike added: "The fact Lower Ridge in Burnley has been saved has been very good news but the plans do not go far enough.
"I have faxed the county council to ask them to look again at the issues in the light of Mr Milburn's statement."
Greg Pope, MP for Hyndburn, added: "The fact is that 32 homes are still set to close.
"That has to change because it is not what people want and there is a lot of opposition to it.
"The standards imposed by the Government have now been removed which should take the pressure off the county council to do things so quickly."
Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans said: "As far as the county council are concerned, the word consultation will never mean anything ever again if they do not abandon their plans at the second attempt.
"The people of Lancashire have already spoken once, and I have no doubt they have spoken again.
"You cannot just take people's homes away from them at the drop of a hat.
"You can't just say 'you'll only move twice.'
"You cannot compromise on this issue at all."
Chorley's MP Lindsay Hoyle said: "The plans on the table at the moment are just not acceptable.
"They are not what the public want."
