Leigh RMI Week Preview - STEVE Waywell has warned his players that failure to pick up some points this weekend may spell danger - before August has even ended.
Speaking after Tuesday's 2-0 reverse to Doncaster at Hilton Park, Waywell said: "I hope that the players don't take too long to gel because we don't want to lose the habit of doing well. I don't think there is anything to worry about so far because we have played two very good sides and been unlucky not to get something out of both games."
Although RMI will claim it to be academic, they prop up the Nationwide Conference after the first week of action and will be eager to break their points duck when they play host to new kids on the block, Burton Albion at home on Saturday.
Burton - inspired by former Nottingham Forest and Liverpool midfielder Nigel Clough - will be a difficult team to break down in the time-honoured tradition of promoted teams frustrating the more experienced ones on a regular basis. They will have forced the RMI management team to wake up in a cold sweat this weekend after winning 3-1 at Northwich to follow a 1-1 draw with Scarborough at the weekend.
As if they hadn't had enough of trips on the Southbound carriageways, RMI will spend their Bank Holiday Monday in Surrey when Woking are the opponents at the Kingfield Stadium, merely aiming to arrive on time ahead of a game where points are essential with Geoff Chapple's men also tipped for the plunge to the pyramid leagues.
