THE cream of Bury's junior cricketers will be on show at Old Trafford on Saturday when both the town's schools' representative teams are in cup final action.
This is the first time the town teams have made it to the prestigious finals in the same year and the unique achievement goes to show what a wealth of talent there is in the Bury area.
First up in the Hacking Cup final are Bury Schools' Under-13s who take on their counterparts from Rochdale at 9.45am.
Representing Bury are: captain, Oliver Holt (Prestwich HS), Umar Khan (Derby HS), Jonty Poward (Bury Church), Taimoor Siddiqui (Derby HS), Liam Franklin (Bury Church), wicketkeeper David Skelly (Tottington HS), Matthew Partington (Coney Green), Ammar Baig (Broad Oak), Nick Murphy (Bury GS), Tom Doyle (Philips HS), Jamie Pilling (Tottington HS). 12th man: Sean Clift (Tottington HS).
Second game up is the Ainsworth Trophy final between Bury Schools' Under-15s and St Helens at 1.30pm.
In action for Bury are: captain Chris Read (Tottington HS), Alex Blake (St Monica's), Matthew Dearden (Elton HS), Mark Hamnett (Tottington HS), Sean Haslem (St Monica's), Daniel Holland (Tottington HS), Chris Murray (St Gabriel's) wicketkeeper John Simpson (St Gabriel's), Alex Roughley (St Gabriel's), Peter Walters (St Monica's). 12th man: Phil Donnelly (St Gabriel's).
