A BLACKBURN schoolboy who achieved outstanding GCSE success today dedicated his achievement to his father, who died earlier this year.
Daniel Krupa of St Bede's School got 100 per cent for English Literature to get in the top five and gained a total of eight A stars, one grade A and one B.
Daniel, 16, said: "I did it for my dad, I wanted to make him proud."
The teenager lost his father, Bohdan Krupa, 52, on March 1, just a week after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Daniel, of Quebec Avenue, Lammack, was expected to do well. His mock exams were of a high standard, but after his father's death his mother and teachers at the school, in Livesey Branch Road, said they were particularly proud of him. His mother Kathleen, 48, said: "He always was a clever lad, but with his dad dying he has done so well. 'm so proud of him.
"He said he wanted to make his dad proud."
She said "His dad was always such a healthy man, this came totally out of the blue. We only found out a week before he died.
"But I didn't tell Daniel it was terminal until after he had gone to the Worthington Cup Final to watch Blackburn Rovers. I wanted him to enjoy his football before I told him."
Steven Morgan, a teacher at St Bede's, said: "Daniel has done so well, especially with his dad dying, he's had to cope with such a lot."
