A WOMAN is warning people to beware a "get rich quick" chain letter which she and her husband received out of the blue.
The letter, sent anonymously to Mrs Antonina Rosser, promises that if she sends £10 to the first person on an enclosed list, and follows other instructions, then she can expect to receive back a "guaranteed" £40,000 within 60 days.
In the letter, six steps are outlined as to how the receiver can get the cash windfall.
Mrs Rosser, of Whitelegge Street, said: "This letter suddenly arrived at our home. It was a complete surprise and I've no idea who sent it to us.
"I think chain letters such as these should be stopped. Some people may get in a position where they feel it would be all right to send off £10 when they can't really afford it."
The Bury Times has seen a copy of the chain letter which contains the names of six people. They live as far away as Devon.
Mrs Rosser added: "I would urge anyone who receives a similar letter just to ignore it.
"I don't think it is right that this sort of thing should be sent out in the first place. I certainly won't be sending anyone £10."
