EWOOD enforcer Garry Flitcroft could be in line for a dramatic comeback tomorrow as Rovers prepare to take on Birmingham City at St Andrews.
Manager Graeme Souness has included the influential skipper in his squad for the trip to the Midlands.
And Flitcroft is ready to step into the breach, despite the fact he has played just 45 minutes of football since the end of last season after being laid low by an ankle injury.
"I trained yesterday and the manager later told me to pack some stuff and join the rest of the squad for tomorrow's game," said Flitcroft.
"I don't know what his plans are in terms of whether he wants me to play or sit on the bench but the ankle feels good and I'm ready if he needs me."
With Keith Gillespie already ruled out through suspension, Souness faces a dilemma as to who to bring in in midfield.
So having Flitcroft back in contention would come as a timely boost as Rovers go in search of their first victory of the new season.
Rovers will choose from: Friedel, Neill, Johansson, Short, Taylor, Dunn, Tugay, Duff, Hignett, Cole, Yorke, Flitcroft, Grabbi, Curtis, Berg, Unsal, Mahon, Kelly.
