A BANNED motorist who got behind the wheel while over the drink-drive limit did the same thing again less than a month later.

Burnley Magistrates heard how slaughterhouse worker, Gavin David Ledger, 19, gave the police the details of his brother Sean instead of his own name, but later went to the police station and confessed.

Ledger, of Conway Crescent, Barnoldswick, was sent to detention for six months and banned from driving for three years.

He admitted two counts of driving with excess alcohol and two of driving while disqualified and having no insurance and allegations of no test certificate and obstructing a police officer.

Christiana Buchanan, prosecuting, said Ledger had been on bail for the first offences when he committed the second set.

On June 23, the defendant was stopped in the early hours on Leeds Road and gave his brother's details.

He was found to have 62 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath -- the legal limit is 35.

David Leach, defending, said Ledger had never been to custody before and appreciated he was in a serious position.

He could offer no reasonable explanation why he drove while disqualified. He was stupid and disagreed with such behaviour.

The defendant had come to his senses and went to the police station voluntarily after he gave his brother's details to police.
