WESHAM Road Runners purple patch shows no signs of slowing down! "The Friendly Clubs" proud members turned out in force to compete in the local running clubs Inter Club series and once more ran off with one of the three awards.
Chorley Harriers where the hosts for the penultimate race of this excellent series.On the night Preston Harriers showed that they are once more are coming back to the standard of level that they enjoyed a few years ago by picking up first team prize for both the Mens and the Ladies open teams.
The winning man was Darren Hale of Salford Harriers, first Lady was Preston Harrier Pippa Walsh. Wesham Road Runners once more picked up first prize for the fastest Vets team.
Keith Gresty ,Doug Brown,Pete Earnshaw and John Whiteman made the journey to Tywyn in Wales to tackle the famous Race The Train. More than 1,000 runners set off cross country to try and beat a steam train to its destination. Most of the race is across fields and fells over 12 miles.
The Wesham lads did not manage to beat the train but local Poulton joiner Steve Littler not only beat it, he finished a very credible 4th overall. Wesham also picked up 3rd team prize at the birchwood 10k on Sunday.Alex Rowe continues his excellent form finishing 7th and also first vet 45,Barry Peatfied ,35.59
also first vet 50 and the third runner to help take the team prize Martin Bates 35.59 ,3rd vet 45.
