THE safest bet of the weekend is that the two managers at Turf Moor on Saturday will not be going out for a meal together after the game.

Stan Ternent and Neil Warnock may both be former Bury managers but the two men have got little else in common.

At times in the past the simmering feud has threatened to boil over, not least in the penultimate game of the 2000-01 season when the Blades ended Burnley's play-off hopes with a 2-0 win at Bramall Lane.

Ternent was incensed that Warnock sent one of his staff to listen to his half time team talk and complained about what he saw as blatant cheating.

Last season, after the game at Turf Moor Warnock urged Ternent to sell Glen Little after he ran his defence ragged and the Burnley boss could not hide his disdain for the comment as he said: "He would say that."

Ternent refused to be drawn on the clash with his rival and he is clearly determined to let his players do the talking.

At the mention of his name he simply smiled and said: "We know it will be a tough game."

As for Warnock, he joked this week: "Knowing how well me and Stan get on it should be a good game."

In any Roses clash you can expect the sparks to fly and that might just apply to the touchline as well as on the pitch tomorrow.
