LENNIE Johnrose has answered Stan Ternent's SOS by returning to Turf Moor on a monthly contract and he will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's clash with Sheffield United.
The 32-year-old midfielder was one of six players released by the club at the end of last season but he returned to Gawthorpe for training this morning.
The Burnley boss explained: "He will go straight into the squad for tomorrow because I have to be able to have 16 players.
"It is good to have him back because we know what he can do and we know that he is fit. He has been training hard throughout the summer and so I have no concerns about that."
Johnrose turned down the chance to sign for Steve McMahon at Blackpool earlier this month and ironically might now feature against the Tangerines in the Worthington Cup first round tie at Turf Moor in September.
The experienced midfielder has played under Ternent at both Bury and Burnley and he will relish the chance to remind him what he can do.
A number of players are battling to be fit for the clash with the Blades with skipper Steve Davis, Tony Grant, Glen Little and Brad Maylett all struggling and French defender Arthur Gnohere suspended.
Last night Burnley under-16s drew 0-0 with San Diego Nomads under-17s at Gawthorpe.
The American side has been playing a number of games against Academy sides in a tour organised by the former Northern Ireland international Gerry Armstrong.
