IT MAY not have been the best of starts to the season for the Clarets but their opponents tomorrow have also been slow out of the blocks.
Defeat for Sheffield United at Coventry on the opening day has been followed by home draws with Portsmouth and Walsall, the latter match ending with some home fans venting their frustration towards the manager.
Like most bosses in the first division, Neil Warnock has been struggling in the wake of the ITV Digital cash crisis.
But he has added a number of players to his squad on free transfers with the emphasis very much on bringing in older and wiser heads.
Last weekend Steve Yates, Iffy Onuora and Wayne Allison all featured in a disappointing 1-1 draw and their combined age is 100.
Add in former Bradford City, Rangers and Scotland star Stuart McCall and it is clear the Blades will not be found wanting in terms of experience.
One young player to come in at the start of the season is 21-year-old Celtic winger Jon-Paul McGovern. He is currently on loan at the Blades.
Another youngster who will need no introduction to the Clarets is promising midfielder Phil Jagielka. He turned 20 last week and scored twice for the Blades in the 3-0 win at Bramall Lane last spring.
Although new men have come in, even more have been shipped out, including two of the villains from the infamous "Battle of Bramall Lane" against West Bromwich Albion.
Patrick Suffo and Laurent D'Jaffo were the guilty men and neither played for the Blades again after that day.
