THIRTEEN-year-old Dean Donohue was on target when he won the penalty shoot-out competition at a big fun day in Bury to raise money for the newly-formed Fairfield Football Club.
Dean, of Broad Oak Lane, Bury, is pictured with his trophy. He was one of hundreds of people who attended Sunday's (Aug 18) event, at the town's Broad Oak playing fields, organised by the Topping Fold and Fairfield Tenants and Residents Association (TRA).
Among the impressive fairground attractions were a mini-waltzer, parachute carousel, and a small-scale ferris wheel.
With prize stalls, face painting, and inflatables laid on, there was plenty to keep youngsters occupied.
Games included a penalty shoot-out and treasure hunt, with fun for adults coming in the form of a welly throwing contest.
Representatives of council, police and fire services mounted information displays, and were on hand to answer residents' questions. Organisers hope to have raised £800 from the event.
TRA chairman Pete Brannon said: "We had around one thousand visitors during the course of the day because of people coming backwards and forwards.
"It all went beautifully, without any hitches and everything that we heard afterwards about the day was very positive."
