TWO youngsters have sold their own toys to raise money to send a floral tribute to the church which has become the centre of grieving for Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells.

Cousins Danielle McDonald, six, and Andrew Henderson, nine, decided to hold a jumble sale to raise £25 to buy flowers to be sent to the church in Soham.

Under the watchful eye of aunt Liz Atherton, they set up stall outside their grandparents' house on Mowbray Avenue, Blackburn, where they were visiting for a few days.

Liz said: "They were watching TV earlier this week, were upset at what had happened and wanted to do something. Their grandma suggested they get together some of their toys and her old stuff and set up a stall.

"She found out how much it would cost to send flowers to St Andrew's Church and they got to work. They're sending the flowers to ease the sorrow felt by the girls' parents."

Danielle, a pupil at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Primary School, gave up dolls, cuddly toys and some old clothes. Andrew, from Manchester, sold his Dick Dastardly soft toy, a badminton set and other bits. He also gave £2 of his pocket money.

Business was brisk throughout the day and by teatime they had raised around £20. Their grandparents will make up the rest.

Grandad Sammy McDonald said: "I'm very proud of my grandchildren. I thought it was a wonderful gesture on their part. They have not wanted to keep one penny. They want to use the money to send flowers."
