I WAS dismayed to learn that live exports had resumed in July.

During the foot and mouth crisis most people had a degree of sympathy for the farmers as they watched their livestock and their livelihoods being destroyed. However, with lambs as young as two and three months now being exported one can only wonder whether the farmers' tears were shed for their animals or for the money they lost.
