Clarets fans are being invited to buy their tickets for the Worthington Cup first round game against Blackpool on Tuesday September 10.

The prices in all areas are £12 for adults and £5 for concessions, although the James Hargreaves Stand Lower and Jimmy McIlroy Stand Upper will not be open.

Season ticket holders have until next Monday to claim their seats with voucher AA before they are released on general sale, although all spare seats are on sale now.

Season ticket holders can apply in person at the Turf Moor ticket office or by post. Kick-off on the night will be at 7.45pm.

For the trip to Derby County's Pride Park on September 7, Burnley fans have been allocated 3,000 tickets, priced at £20 for adults and £10 concessions (over 65 and under 16)

The tickets went on sale this week to season ticket holders with voucher C and Foundation members by application to the Foundation manager. The tickets will go on general sale on September 2.

THE slow start to the season for the Clarets has left fans wondering what might have been if the club had been able to sign last season's loan stars.

Marlon Beresford and David Johnson were big hits at Turf Moor and both have enjoyed good starts to the season.

Beresford has yet to lose since moving to York City on a short term deal but it is Johnson who is going even better.

Having returned to Nottingham Forest has has scored in both of their home games and he admitted: "My time at Burnley certainly helped me and now I hope to do well for Forest."

Loan leavers

IT is a sign of the times at Turf Moor that for a number of the reserves on Wednesday night, the match against Huddersfield was just one thing to worry about.

Given the youth in the side there will have been just as much concern about the arrival of the GCSE results the following morning.

Given the current state of the game, young players are being repeatedly reminded by clubs that they have to try and have something to fall back on and so passing exams off the pitch is as important as passing them on it.
